Trinidad : Trinidad was the third settlement built by the Spanish colonizers in Cuba in 1514. The villa is located in the southern central part of Cuba and belongs to the Sancti-Spíritus province. Trinidad is a powerful turistic site, as has preserved rather unspoiled many of its small colony town, ancient characteristics. Cobblestone streets, old mansions, incredible house painting colors, ironworks, beautiful mediopuntos, the feeling of a different (slow) pace of time, and friendly people contribute to its uniqueness and attraction for both Cuban and foreign visitors. The following image collection (slight corrections only) shot in two days during a rest visit, includes in this order: town scenes, details, and people, followed by a panoramic image of the Valle de los Ingenios (Valley of the sugar mills) and two of the famous Iznaga tower, to end with Playa Ancón (some 10 km from Trinidad), a wonderful beach with very clear sand and waters.

Cienfuegos : The city of Cienfuegos is the only one founded in Cuba by the French. Constructed in 1819 along the margins of the second most important bay (22 km2) of the south of the island, the city is called the Pearl of the South due to the beauty of its edifications. What follows is part of the photographic work done in a short three-day rest visit to Cienfuegos. The images, that are almost straight out of the camera and will be post processed further according to client interests, appear in the following order: (1) general view and details of the city, with the Paseo del Prado with its Benny Moré live-size statue (honoring his song that reads “…Cienfuegos is the city I like the most…”), (2) a more specific set of images taken around the Parque Martí, with the Tomás Terry theatre (1889), the Colegio San Lorenzo (1927), the Cathedral (Catedral de la Purisma Concepción, 1833), the blue Palacio Ferrer with its tower, and the Palacio de Gobierno (1898), (3) images that move by the malecón (sea wall) towards Punta Gorda, passing by the Club Cienfuegos with its tennis courts and marina, and the modern Jagua Hotel, to end at the exquisite Palacio del Valle, formerly a residence of the del Valle family, constructed with an Arabic style and now a must-go restaurant, and (4) the trip to the Castillo de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Jagua, driving first by the Lighthouse and the Rancho Luna beach, to finally take a small motor boat and cross from east to west the narrow channel that connects the Cienfuegos Bay with the Carribean. The castle, to be restored again next year, sits in a hill surrounded by small fishermen settlements. The city of Cienfuegos is also well known by its fabulous Botanical Garden.
